Maria (Masha) Lipman is a visiting scholar at The Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (IERES), George Washington University, and the Editor of Russia.Post published by IERES.

Lipman’s fields of interest include state-society relations, media, and politics of history. Lipman writes capsule reviews of books about Russia and Eastern Europe for Foreign Affairs.

From 1995 until 2019 Lipman was the Editor or Deputy editor of various Russian-language publications; from 2003 till 2014 she was also an associate at the Moscow Carnegie Center (Russian branch of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace).
