Woody Keppel

Actor and Musician

Woody Keppel began his performing career with Sarah Caldwell's Opera Company of Boston, playing comic roles alongside some of the great opera singers of the world. In 1984 he founded "Waldo & Woodhead" a music-variety show which he performed internationally for over twenty-two years in variete theaters, festivals, galas, and television (in over thirty countries). Selected appearances include: Lincoln Center, Caesar’s Palace, Tanglewood, SPAC, Berlin’s Wintergarten, Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde (Paris), and the Beijing Winter Olympics, and the China Comedy Festival. The late Gregory Hines, after performing together with Waldo & Woodhead, called the comedy duo, "The funniest and most creative act I’ve ever seen.”

Since 1993, Woody has appeared in numerous feature films, including leading roles in David Giancola’s, Axcellerator with Sean Young and Sam J. Jones, and Icebreaker, with Sean Astin. Woody has written and starred in four family videos, notably the award-winning, Woodhead Saves the Farm, which was picked by Sesame Street and Parents Magazine as “Year's Best" for kids. He has just released a critically acclaimed CD of music for kids called, Mr. Woodhead's Party in the Animal Barn.

Woody is the creator & co-founder of the Festival of Fools, (Burlington, VT), and the Feast of Fools (Montpelier, VT), and writes satirical & introspective songs for his band, The Hokum Brothers, a Vermont “vintage” institution.
